Pastoral Center and Diocesan Governance

The Msgr. James Amos Pastoral Center in Pensacola is home to the administrative offices of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. Also known as a chancery or the diocesan curia, the mission of the staff here is best defined in the Code of Canon Law:
The diocesan curia consists of those institutions and persons which assist the bishop in the governance of the whole diocese, especially in guiding pastoral action, in caring for the administration of the diocese, and in exercising judicial power. - CIC Can. 469
The Pastoral Center is named after Msgr. James Amos (1929-2002) who served as Vicar General and diocesan administrator on two occasions.
