The Lay Formation Institute (LFI) is an initiative of our diocese to provide quality spiritual, intellectual, and human formation to lay people. The inaugural program began in the fall of 2016 following the Church Fully Alive campaign under the direction of Bishop Gregory Parkes.

Lay Formation Institute Re-LaunchFollowing the graduation of the 2023-2025 Cohort, the Ministry staff at the Diocese has been praying and revisioning the future of the LFI. To that end, we are re-launching a new vision for Lay Formation, with registration officially opening at Pentecost 2026.
What's changing?
LFI will still operate as a two-year formation model, but we will not be locking into cohorts. Our new model will be built on a year of standardized theological formation and a year of electives. After the 2026-2027 year, we will be running the standard formation and electives simultaneously.
The most significant change is that we will be able to accept new participants throughout the year, rather than every two years. It also means some members will select different electives, but all will receive the same foundational formation.
