Each year, the Catholic Foundation distributes grants throughout the diocese - grants made possible by the endowments established through the Foundation. Because grants are made through investment proceeds, the Foundation's principal remains intact, ensuring that grant dollars will continue for generations to come.
Here, we share the impact from a few of our 2025 grants, which totaled $814,110. In our next grant cycle, we expect to award nearly $1 million.
youth ministry comes alive
Our Diocesan Youth Ministry Team annually serves about 400 youth annually through events including fall campout, spring Youth Conference, a middle school retreat, and Christian Leadership Institute for forming high school youth.
Support from the Catholic Foundation provided training and resources to advance the Pastoral Plan for Youth Ministry, which includes these goals:
Create opportunities for authentic encounters with Jesus that lead teens to discern their personal vocations.
Invest in forming parish leaders, catechists, and teens who are ready to echo the faith and walk with others.
Form adults and teens who are prepared and empowered to accompany others and echo the Gospel in word and deed.
Promote shared intergenerational and intercultural experiences that build communion in the parish.
These programs plant seeds today that will flower tomorrow, as the diocesan team and parish leaders bring together youth from throughout the diocese to give them a sense of the larger Catholic Church.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES FEEDS THE HUNGRY
Each year, Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida serves around 40,000 people through our various ministries that provide food for the hungry. Recently, we have seen a dramatic increase in our brothers and sisters coming to us for food. Demand started increasing with rising food costs, then spiked even higher with the government shutdown and its impact on SNAP benefits.
Through the generous gift from Bishop Wack, our Diocese, and the many supporters of our faith, we have been blessed to do our best to keep up with these ever-growing needs. Our food ministry programs are now able to give out more food, help more people, increase the number of times someone can request food assistance, and much more.
